Hampton Beach: $100 fines for parking on resident-only streets

HAMPTON – Out-of-towners who park on the soon-to-be marked resident-only parking  area at North Beach and Hampton Beach town roads could face a $100 fine. Selectmen voted Monday to update the town’s parking regulations to include the new parking restrictions as well as set the fee for those caught in violation. The new parking restrictions will be in place from Memorial Day to Columbus Day.  The board previously voted to phase in resident-only parking on town beach roads at the request of residents. There is still plenty of parking for visitors in the state-metered parking lots or the many town-owned or privately owned paid parking lots at the beach.

Hampton NH resident-only parking raises issue of fair beach access

HAMPTON  College student Luke Gould said everyone should be able to enjoy North Beach and Hampton Beach, regardless of whether they can afford to feed parking meters. He s concerned a decision by town leaders to make parking along town roads at the beach resident-only will deny people that opportunity.   “I have spent a lot of my early years at the beaches, said Gould.  Just seeing how this might affect, as far as costs, other people from being able to attend the beach concerns me.”    Gould, a University of New England student and Exeter resident, was one of several who called into Monday’s selectmen meeting in response to the board’s decision three weeks ago to make all town beach roads resident-only parking.
