1 dead, 1 arrested following afternoon shooting in Arlington area

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The Jacksonville Sheriff s Office is investigating a deadly shooting Monday afternoon in the Arlington area.
The shooting happened at about 1:15 p.m. in the 1200 block of Arlington Road, a few blocks from University Boulevard. When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a Black male pointing a rifle at another Black male, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff s Office.
Multiple shots rang out shortly after police arrived, and the man with the rifle fled on foot, police said. Following a brief chase, officers arrested the suspect and took him into custody without incident.
