specifically where it comes to ending the birthright citizenship. this is not a plan. this is a pander. and a pander to those angry at the government and immigrants. if you want to leave this country, you have to have more than anger. you have to have policies that are going to solve problems. i don t support amending the constitution to kick out kids born here. it s not practice kl that we re going to put 11 million people on buses or trains, have police round up all over the country, going to farm, businesses and sending people back. this is something that shouldn t be taken seriously. what should be taken seriously is the fact that we have a government that really is so out of touch with the american people that there is this degree of anger where people are willing to support someone simply because of their anger at the inside game in the washington. how does that affect when it comes to these poll numbers here, especially this latest cnn
trump has a plan if that s what it s called but i think the better approach to deal with the 11 million people here illegally in a way that is realistic. joining me now from washington is jeremy peters of the new york times. jeremy, good to have you with me here talking about this and the new poll of cnn saying 44% of republicans trust donald trump on the question of immigration so he seems to be driving this immigration train. he s at the controls. how s he managed to do in the debate over, you know, as far as the other me believes of the party? i think the only person that a lot of republican voters are hearing is donald trump and not just the copious media attention he receives but also because of his celebrity. you are talking about a man who s an incredibly well-known to large majorities of the american population and that i think gives him an advantage, an advantage that frankly is far, far ahead of any other candidate in this field.
the hospital? what will remain after trump? and then breaking news, troops called to combat wildfires burning across western states. the first time in a decade. we ll head to washington, the epicenter of the operation. and developing news in new hampshire, a former student at an elite prep school on trial for rape. how this case has exposed an alleged secret sexual tradition on campus. hi there. nice being with you. right now, on msnbc live, hillary clinton rallying the troops. nbc news learned she is reaching out to supporters after the latest revelations of her e-mails. monday the state department filed new documents in court and indicate the intelligence community has flagged an additional 305 e-mails for classification review. it is yet to be determined if any of these contain classified information. previous reviews flagged two with top secret information. the state department has said
poll, especially with trump still out front and look where wrou stand, sir, at the bottom of the pack. less than 1%. is it time to get out and throw your weight behind one of the other candidate at this point? how can you edge your way to get higher this those polls? oh, i think as the summer passes on and people look about at the future of the country, they re going to want grown up government. they re going to want someone who yes, understands how washington is too much of an insider game and we need someone who s going to take washington and change it dramatically, but they re not going to want someone saying things that the american people are never going happen. i have a record of dramatically changing government. when i say we re going to radically reform washington,ly get it done if elected. would everything that s happening now, especially in the polls and trump s surge, kind of kiddie table government?
i don t think so. i think it s what i was saying is that this sense that washington doesn t represent the people. that the people class in both parties too out of touch with the needs of the people and i share that. i think that s the reason for this, but i also think ultimately as the race progresses, people are going to want something that offers solutions that work and who has shown an ability to bring things together to solve problems. have you had the conversation with yourself to see or discussed with yourself when it will be time to drop out and support someone else? i m going. if you believe in your ability to bring people together and lead this country, and believe that we need to change the direction of washington as much as anytime as i ve seen in my lifetime, you have to fight the fight. i don t underestimate the odds. when i ran as a republican conservative against cuomo for governor of new york, no one thought i had a chance, but i won. if you believe in your polici
