Manx Gas rebate could be lower than expected warns Harmer Minister says government is upholding its agreement Tynwald will be asked to back temporary price freezes for Manx Gas customers, next month, whilst tariffs are reviewed.  The Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority is now responsible for the regulation of Manx Gas – after plans for voluntary regulation were scrapped.  As part of the process customers were told they could expect a rebate of around £93.  Policy and Reform Minister Ray Harmer says government is sticking to its end of the deal but warned the amount refunded could be lower:

Covid contingency plans in place for Manx census Due to take place in May Contingency plans can be put in place if there’s another outbreak of Covid-19 at the time of the Manx census. It’s already been delayed due to the pandemic – it was due to take place in April but will now happen on 30 May instead.  This year it will be ‘digital by default’ meaning people can fill in their information online. Plans for sewage treatment facility in Peel withdrawn Tue, 22 Dec 2020 By Chris Cave - Local Democracy Reporter Government has been dealt another blow in its bid to deal with the Island’s waste, after plans for a sewage treatment works in Peel were withdrawn. An independent planning inspector recommended the designs for the Glenfaba Road facility be refused. Reasons included the ‘adverse visual impact’ and the effects on woodland and wildlife. Proposals for a similar site in Laxey were rejected in July. Patrick Commissioners had long been opposed to the plans and raised concerns at a three-day planning hearing in September.
