n last nights highway 4 shooting was the latest in what has been a series of bay area highway shootings in the past year. Most of those shootings happening in the east bay. Heres what we know about the cases. n saturdays highway 4 shooting is at least the third bay area freeway shooting of the year. It comes less than a month after a highway 242 shooting in concord that left a man hurt and a black mercedes riddled with bullets. And less than a month after an i80 shooting near carlson boulevard in richmond. Three shootings may sound like a high number but it certainly doesnt compare to what we saw last year. From novemeber of 2015 to the end of 2016 there were more than thirty bay area freeway shootings. The highest number of shootings happened on the i80 coordior but branched onto other freeways throughout the area. Almost all of these past shootings have been labeled gang related. School system in maryland is overcapacity and over budget. Enrollment is just over 154,000 students, nearly 3000 more than last year. Like any parent, i dont want my kid to be shoved into a class that is, you know, larger than what a teacher can reasonably handle. I think they probably already stretched those limits. At this school, there are already eight portables. Theyve been here for many years, parents say. There is the possibility that this school may get more. The School System is so strapped for cash and desperate to find more space that the county will soon reach out to the state for more financial assistance. Id much prefer to see call smaller class sizes. The county is already using more than 400 of these yearatable classrooms this with almost 90 of them located at elementary schools.
