Tourists being welcomed back to the Algarve
Blue skies and temperatures tipping the 30 degree mark welcomed tourists who were arriving at Faro airport this morning, the first day that non essential travel was allowed again in Portugal.
Alongside press from around the world and representatives from the Algarve tourism board, were eager friends and family waiting to welcome people to the Algarve.
Most people as they emerged from the arrivals of the airport were smiling and almost all remarked about the hot weather, in contrast to the cold temperatures that many in the UK have been experiencing recently.

Portugal has been placed on the “green list” of countries for travel from England, with tourism chiefs welcoming the decision.
The announcement was made by the British government on 7 May and was heralded as “good news” by the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, who added that the end of restrictions imposed by England on trips to Portugal constitutes “recognition of the effort made by Portuguese”.
It is “undoubtedly” good news, he said, as it means “recognition of the effort made by the Portuguese” which has “resulted in having a controlled pandemic situation today”, as he reacted to the news that as of 17 in May, Portugal will appear on the “green list” of countr
