SPOKANE, Wash. The Spokane Chiefs came up short in overtime on Tuesday night as they fell 4-3 to the Tri-City Americans in the rivals’ final head-to-head matchup of the season. The game was the final time that Spokane overage players Eli Zummack, Matt Leduc, and Bobby Russell will take the ice at Spokane Arena as the Chiefs will finish the 2020-21 season on the road this weekend.
Despite starting in a 1-0 hole following a score from Tri-City’s Tyson Greenway at 5:46, the Chiefs closed out the period with a 2-1 lead following a power play goal from Adam Beckman his 14th over the last 12 games and later defenseman Graham Sward’s first marker of the year at 12:18.

The Prince Albert Raiders were inches away from forcing overtime on Thursday night at the Brandt Centre.
Blueliner Remy Aquilon wrapped his way around the Saskatoon Blades net and found Dallyn Peekeekoot in front, but his shot and a rebound attempt by Reece Vitelli were turned aside by Blades goaltender Nolan Maier.
The Blades would seal their 5-3 victory on the following shift as Caiden Daley raced down the ice to score on an empty cage to hand their Raiders their second straight loss.
“I thought we worked hard but some little mistakes that we made in our game cost us in the end as they (the Blades) were able to put it in the back of the net,” Vitelli said. “If we clean those mistakes up, we have a different result.”
It was a career night for Swift Current’s Reed Jacobson on Wednesday.
The second-year forward finished with two goals and two assists for his first four-point outing in the Western Hockey League. Jacobson scored in the second period to give the Spokane Chiefs a 3-1 lead and then scored on the power play in the third period for an insurance goal in a 5-2 win over the visiting Tri-City Americans.
Jacobson now has four goals and four assists in eight games this season. He broke into the WHL with 11 points in 50 games last season.
