Sentiyanger Imchen, Additional Chief Secretary of Finance department of the Nagaland government on Monday issued a notification and stated that “in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section 3A of the Nagaland (Sale of Petroleum and Petroleum Products including Motor Spirit and Lubricants) Taxation Act, 1967 (as amended), the Governor of Nagaland is pleased to notify that the rate of tax under entry serial number 3 & 4 of Schedule II of the Act shall stand amended. West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra on Sunday announced a reduction of tax by Rs 1 per litre on petrol and diesel, effective from tomorrow midnight.
West Bengal government’s move comes a day after Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that Centre and State governments will have to work together to bring retail rates to reasonable levels.
