A COUNCILLOR has raised concerns over sentencing in courts which she believes no longer acts as a deterrent for criminals. Pat Jones, Ulverston town councillor reacted to the recent sentencing of a man from Barrow who was guilty of harassing a 13-year-old girl. Leigh Bond, 35, of Redshaw Avenue in Barrow, has been jailed for two months after he admitted harassing the 13-year-old just hours following a court case which saw him handed a suspended prison sentence for trying to meet up with her. Sentencing: Preston Crown Court heard the case The father of the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, previously told The Mail that he was disappointed by the sentence due to the intense nature of the offence committed.
