The annual fall food drive supporting Redlands Family Service Association is underway. Volunteers distributed 20,000 shopping bags they hope to see filled by Nov. 11.
The 240 students at the Grove School started a school-wide service project focusing on creating community during the pandemic.
On Thursday, Nov. 19, students heard from eight organizations through Zoom, including the Redlands Conservancy, San Bernardino County Museum, Redlands Family Service and Redlands Mayor Pro Tem Denise Davis.
âEvery year we do a big project,â said English teacher Melanie Knypstra. âIn the past, we have done ones involving history, art, even community interviews. It is part of our curriculum.â
Knypstra said it was challenging to come up with this yearâs project because of COVID-19 restrictions.
âWe are almost all online right now,â she said. âWe have some cohorts for volleyball and academic support, but we are still doing distance learning.â
