ALTON Olivia Spangler, of Alton High School, and Ben Moginot, of Marquette Catholic High School in Alton, have been named Students of the Month for February 2021 by the Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club.
Because of the Covid-19 restrictions in the area, the club has decided to suspend meetings for a short time. However, it is not suspending honoring exceptional students from the community.
Spangler, the daughter of Scott and Stacey Spangler of Godfrey, is president of the Alton High School Class of 2021 and ranks 13th in a class of more than 500 seniors in grade point average. She also posted an SAT score of more than 1500.

But this week is different for him, as well as for ADs throughout Illinois Department of Pubic Health’s Region 4, including the entire Southwestern Conference.

ALTON Reilly Clark, Alton High School, and Jeffrey Vaughn, Mississippi Valley Christian School, have been honored as Students of the Month for January 2021 by the Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club.
Because of the COVID-19 restrictions in the area, the club has chosen to suspend meetings for a short time. However, we do not wish to suspend honoring our exceptional students from our community high schools.
Clark is the daughter of James and Jeanna Clark of Alton. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Her grade point average is a 4.417 on a 4.0 scale and she is currently ranked 18th in her class of 524. She also is in Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society and has received the Academic Excellence Award for Athletics each year at Alton High School. She is also on the President’s List at Lewis and Clark Community College for her dual credit classe.

The announcement that representatives from the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois High School Association would meet before the end of the year to discuss ways to get high school sports restarted was met with crossed fingers earlier this month.
