The protocol for a seating division between vaccinated and unvaccinated people for upcoming Red Wings’ games is drawing some mixed reactions on social media.
On Wednesday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that anyone who is fully vaccinated can sit next to each other at outdoor venues, like ballparks, instead of being 6 feet apart, while those who are not vaccinated will sit in a separate area, with 6 feet of social distancing required.
Rochester Red Wings General Manager Dan Mason said Frontier Field will implement this new COVID-19 protocol starting opening day, May 18, even though the new law goes into effect on May 19. The team was granted a waiver from the state to enforce the rule a day before.

Spring is almost here and that means baseball season is right around the corner.
With COVID-19 on its way out the Rochester Red Wings are staying optimistic about the upcoming season. As it stands, the current COVID restrictions only allow for 10% capacity of Frontier Field but they are trying to negotiate something a little more loose for their May 18th home opener.
According to Red Wings General Manager Dan Mason, All the players went home mid March last year with the hopes that they would be back in two weeks.
“Just the roar of the crowd,” he said. “The roar of the crowd, the sounds of the game, but the people that’s what I miss the most. Just to see people leave with a smile on their face, win or lose, that’s what it’s all about.”
