34 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Del Norte County

Thirty-four new COVID-19 cases were reported to the Del Norte Public Health Branch on Tuesday.
This many cases in one day could result in Del Norte County moving back to the Purple Tier, the most restrictive category in California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy.
Public Health Officer Dr. Warren Rehwaldt, who confirmed Thursday’s case count, said if the cases are connected to a single outbreak, Public Health may be able to appeal to the state for forgiveness. But, he said, he couldn’t guarantee that would happen.

Last week, San Francisco, Santa Clara and Marin Counties joined several other northern California counties in the less restrictive Orange Tier under California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy Tier System. Effective March 31, 2021, several other counties, including Alameda, Santa Cruz and the Southern California counties of Los Angeles and Orange, joined them. With this move, some non-essential indoor businesses in these counties, including office-based workspaces, are now permitted to re-open, subject to necessary modifications (and subject to approval by local county public health departments). Bower says ride operators have extra face coverings for those who didn t bring their own and hand sanitizing stations are at each attraction. Bower says combining reopened rides with spring break can make staying within health codes challenging. There are a lot of rules, but we also are in the fun business.
