MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (WBZ NewsRadio) The Red Sox-Minnesota Twins game was postponed Monday afternoon in response to a police shooting in the Minneapolis area on Sunday.
Police in Brooklyn Center, a suburb of Minneapolis, shot and killed 20-year-old Daunte Wright during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon. Police called the shooting an accidental discharge Monday, saying the officer had meant to use her taser, not her handgun.
The shooting sparked violent unrest overnight.
The Minnesota Twins released a statement on Twitter that said they were postponing the game out of respect for the tragic events around 20 minutes after the teams were set to take the field on Monday afternoon.
