Get Ready for Prop 22 in New York

Screenshot: Dash Community NY Last year, in a feat of astonishing greed, Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash poured $200 million into buying a law that safeguards their profits and screws their struggling workers. Their sinister ballot measure Prop 22 passed, and it’s practically unrepealable; now they’re lining New York state politicians’ pockets, and yet again, gearing up for what looks like another round of belligerent propagandizing. DoorDash has released a dreary website nearly identical to a Prop 22 campaign platform. The purpose is ominously vague. Advertisement For a sense of what New York is in for, the companies had threatened to leave California leading up to the Prop 22 vote. Three of the four speakers before him ran for mayor and lost in the Democratic primary. The other, Melissa Mark-Viverito, ran for both public advocate, then Congress, and lost in both primaries. Now six months after opting out of the 2021 elections, Johnson is opting back in. He officially kicked off his campaign for New York City comptroller Tuesday with a press conference in Manhattan’s Madison Square Park. And with that, he’ll get a second shot at becoming the first speaker in the modern era to extend his life in electoral politics.

Andrew Cuomo: Joon Kim, the former acting U.S Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and employment discrimination lawyer Anne Clark will take the reins. The investigation will cover both what the governor said and did, and how his office handled the complaints after high-ranking Democratic lawmaker charged the administration violated its own sexual harassment policies. Kim became the top federal prosecutor in Manhattan after Preet Bharara was fired from the post by then-President Donald Trump. Before that, he was a deputy under Bharara during a slew of Albany corruption cases, including one
