Four men from the Western Cape between the ages of 66 and 51 arrived at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital on Thursday morning after walking 1 100 km from Richards Bay to Cape Town.
With the theme of “Let us Protect Children during COVID-19 and Beyond”, Child Protection Week is marked to ensure that young people and children are protected from abuse, violation neglection and exploitation.
Western Cape Health MEC Nomafrench Mbombo says South Africans and the government need to work together to break the cycle of child abuse in South Africa.
Over the past three years, the Children’s Hospital Trust though loyal donors, managed to reach a target of R122 million needed to construct the facility.
