ISLAMABAD: The twin cities saw a rise in the number of casualties as seven more people lost their lives to Covid-19 on Thursday while another 427 people contracted the virus. No one was discharged from hospitals after recovery in the last one week and the positivity rate rose to 5pc.
Four deaths – two males and two females – were reported in the capital in the age group of 80-89 and 60-79, officials of the capital administration said, adding the deceased were residents of I-8, Tarlai and G-15. The address of one of the deceased persons is still not known.
Patients who passed away in Pindi were identified as Manzoorun Nisa, 74, a resident of Gulistan Colony. She was brought to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU) on March 3; Isma Ahmed, 30, a resident of the city area, was admitted to Holy Family Hospital on March 10, and Mohammad Younas, 74, a resident of Dhoke Ghangal, admitted to Bilal Hospital on March 10.
Positivity rate in Islamabad was recorded at 4.4pc.
Three people died in Islamabad, including two male patients, aged between 60-79. They were residents of Lohi Bher and I-11, the district administration officials said, adding that the address of one deceased was not known.
Farhat Arif, 73, resident of Scheme-I Saidpur Road, was brought to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU) on Feb 23 where she passed away.
Officials of the capital administration said 174 cases was the highest number reported in a single day in the city after Jan 1.
During the last 24 hours, 3,934 tests were conducted in the capital out of which 95 males and 79 females got their results positive. District Health Officer Dr Zaeem Zia said 174 positives cases against 3,934 tests was the highest number in the last three months.
The garrison city, however, reported only 19 coronavirus cases.
The officials of the capital administration said 74 cases were reported on Saturday as against over 100 each during the last three days.
During the last 24 hours 4,382 tests were conducted which detected virus in 47 men and 27 women and the positivity rate stood at 1.6pc, they added.
The officials said 20 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39, followed by 15 in 40-49, 12 in 20-29, nine in 60-69, seven in 50-59, four in 70-79, three in 10-19, and two each in 0-9 and 80 and above.
They said 12 cases were reported from Lohi Bher, followed by seven each from F-11, G-9, five form G-10, four each from E-11, I-19, three each from G-11, I-10, G-8, Sohan, Kurri, two each from Khanna, D-12, D-17, E-7, and one each from I-8, G-13, G-6, G-10, Tarlai, F-8, G-7, Alipur, Koral, F-5, and Rawal Town, while the address of one case was not known.
