HOLMDEL-HAZLET, NJ - Several inches of snow has already fallen in Holmdel and Hazlet - with more expected Thursday night into Friday - as yet another water storm impacts the Garden State. Local authorities are warning residents to steer clear of the roads unless absolutely necessary, as well as to remove vehicles and sports equipment from roads to allow for snow plows to move through

United Way of Monmouth and Ocean Counties completed its 2020 Warmest Wishes Coat Drive for local preschool, elementary and middle school students in need.
Thanks to the generosity of 91 local organizations and individuals, 2,669 children in Monmouth and Ocean counties received a new coat this winter. More than 3,700 winter outerwear and holiday items were also distributed to children in 33 schools throughout the organization’s region. As a partner in the Operation Warm Up Jersey Shore initiative, United Way has now helped to supply its community with more than 5,000 coats, according to a press release.
“The Red Bank Borough schools are so thankful for our community partnership with United Way of Monmouth and Ocean Counties,” said Cathy Reardon, a registered nurse at the Red Bank Primary School.
U.S. Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ) has announced the winners of this year’s New Jersey Fourth Congressional District Congressional App Challenge, part of a nationwide competition for middle school and high school students to showcase their software app-developing skills and teamwork.
The winning app (application), CollabraCart, was designed by Communications High School students Erin Hardiman of Spring Lake, Melody Lin of Freehold and Jacob Rosegarten of Morganville, according to a press release from Smith’s office.
“I am pleased to congratulate all the winning students at Communications High School,” Smith was quoted as saying in the press release. “The winning app, CollabraCart, is very timely in the COVID era in which we find ourselves. It can match people who are struggling to purchase groceries with individuals who are seeking to donate their time and/or money to help them.
