Travis Tritt to headline Summer Salute

Country music great Travis Tritt will headline this year’s Hopkinsville Summer Salute. Tritt is well known for dozens of hits, including “Here’s a Quarter;” “Anymore,” “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive;” and “Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde.” He will perform Saturday, August 28 at about 8:30 p.m. in front of the Christian County Justice Center. Two up-and-comers, Olivia Faye and Kyle Daniel, will also perform at the free concert that’s sure to draw a very large crowd. Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman is quoted in a news release saying, “Hopkinsville’s biggest party of the summer is returning in a big way, and we could not be more excited to welcome Travis Tritt to Hoptown this August. During his illustrious career, Mr. Tritt has become of the icons of country music and we have no doubt he will put on the biggest show in the history of Summer Salute.”

Second annual Hoptown Hose Down returns this summer

As the summer heat continues to burn up, the Hopkinsville Fire Department and Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department are teaming up for the second annual Hoptown Hose Down to keep communities cool. Beginning Tuesday, June 1, the team will have an HFD-provided pumper truck traveling to six different parks to safely spray down attendees with a water hose and nozzle throughout Hopkinsville. Parks and Recreation department employees will be on site at each event facilitating the mobile spray parks. “Hoptown Hose Down was born last summer after creative alternatives to allow our residents to have some cool, clean fun,” Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman said.
