Shell petrol station on Wigan Road A MOTORIST drove off, crashing into other vehicles, after being sprayed by police when he refused to get out of his car. Officers had ordered Haroon Bux out of his VW Golf on the forecourt of the Shell petrol station at Wigan Road, Bolton, smashing the window and reaching in to seize the keys when he failed to obey. When he started trying to drive away the 27-year-old was sprayed with police-issue PAVA spray. Despite this, Bolton Crown Court heard that he still drove, forcing a police car to swerve to get out of his way and colliding with two other cars before abandoning the car and attempting to run off.
Bradford Street, going onto St Peter s Way A DRUG dealer found with more than £2,000 of cannabis in a car footwell has been spared jail.
Bolton Crown Court heard how the drugs were discovered when police stopped a Toyota Auris on the slip road from Bradford Street onto St Peter’s Way, Bolton, at 1.15pm on November 1, 2019. Father-of-three Waqas Ahmed was the front seat passenger and, at his feet, officers found a large bag of cannabis bush, worth £2,430, two mobile phones and £80. “One of the two phones, when it was analysed, contained a number of text messages, all from that day from three different numbers and they were all requesting drugs,” said David Lees, prosecuting.
