We start this morning with dangerous conditions brought on by now posttropical cyclone lee. The storm is still maintaining those hurricaneforce winds, and so far warnings remain in place as lee begins to whip the new england coast, bringing heavy rainfall through cape cod and all the way through maine. Though its not expected to reach the u. S. , the outer bands are expected to pack strong winds up to 80 miles an hour and could bring flooding throughout the new england coast. Maine has declared a state of emergency, and authorities are warning people to stay inside and prepare to hunker down for the storm. Many states are warning people to state out of the water this morning because of Dangerous Rip Currents that could drag people out to see. Lets go to Allison Chincar in the weather center. Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect this morning as lee is downgraded from a hurricane to a post Tropical Cyclone. New england starting to feel the impact of the massive storm. Boston logan is experiencing a spike in Flight Cancellations. So far, 25 of flights leaving boston have been cancelled. Thats according to flight awe ware. Lee is not expected to make landfall, but coastal cities can can expect powerful 50 to 60 mile per hour winds from outer bands of the massive storm. Heavy rain and storm surge could cause flooding along the n nebraska coast. Authorities are telling people to prepare to hunker down as the storm pushes north through the day.
