DENVER â On Saturday, residents of the Globeville and the Elyria-Swansea neighborhoods marched to reclaim, direct and develop the use of 45-acres of public land located in the Triangle, an area in the middle of both neighborhoods.
Members of the Globeville, Elyria-Swansea Coalition, also known as GES Coalition, were out in full force to launch a campaign that will give community members the power to help develop land at the National Western Complex.
âWhat we would like to see the reclaiming of this land,â Nola Miguel, the Director of GES Coalition said.
Jenrick’s ‘right to regenerate’ derelict public land ‘misguided’ says profession
The housing secretary’s plans to allow underused public buildings to be sold and turned into homes have met with scepticism from architects
Robert Jenrick said the new Right to Regenerate would make it easier to force councils and other public organisations to sell off derelict land for redevelopment and help communities ‘give a new lease of life to unloved buildings’.

The rule change would mean underused public land could be sold to individuals or communities ‘by default’ unless there was a ‘compelling reason’ for the local authority to hold on to it.
