HEWLETT, N.Y. â A dog named Lucky lived up to its name Sunday morning after firefighters and police rescued the pup from a partially frozen pond on Long Island.
The Nassau County Police Department says its officers were called to Grant Park in Hewlett around 9:05 a.m.
The dogâs owner quickly directed responding officers to the golden retriever, who was struggling to stay afloat, according to police.
A winter storm that could bring as many as 4 to 8 inches of snow to the tri-state area is forcing some Sunday COVID-19 vaccination appointments on Long Island to be postponed, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.
