A new round of road improvement projects has been announced through the Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program (ATRIP-II).
The project funds road projects of local interest, proposed by one or more local governments, related to the state-maintained highway system.
The Rebuild Alabama Act requires ATRIP-II to set aside at least $30 million from the Alabama Department of Transporation’s share of new gas tax revenue for projects of local interest on the state highway system.
Among the projects for this year include improvements to U.S. Highway 80 at Mitchell Young Road in Montgomery County, various road improvements in Dallas County and changes to State Route 15 at the entrance to Carver High School in Macon County.

Government officials in Alabama and Mississippi recently awarded funding to support transportation infrastructure projects throughout their states.
Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey announced funding to support 27 road and bridge projects at the city and county level while the Mississippi Transportation Commission approved the Mississippi Department of Transportation to award $10.2 million in grants for multimodal transportation projects.
Mississippi’s funding comes from the state’s Multimodal Transportation Improvement Fund, which allocates money each year to support airports, seaports, railroads and public transit systems.

HARTSELLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The city of Hartselle is receiving over $1.5 million from the state and using that along with the more than $300,000 budgeted by the city to make improvements on Highway 31.
Hartselle Mayor Randy Garrison says he is excited about what this will do for the city.
“We looked at the requirements and what you had to do qualify for the funding and we felt like 31 was a good choice. It will attract new business it will be safer for folks trying to get to the businesses,” Garrison said.
