rebecca heindrick here to explain. should he take this meeting, rebecca, with putin? i don t think he should take this meeting at this point. you know, i think that question the reporter put to the president is vladimir putin testing you? i think biden is right to say no, he has tested him and biden has failed. biden has responded with weakness to these attacks. this is the second cyberattack against a major american artery for our supply chain. and biden has responded leading up to this meeting by waiving these congressionally mandated sanctions against something that the russians wanted very badly, which is this energy pipeline, nord stream 2 from russia to germany. something they wanted badly. biden thought he would ingratiate himself with vladimir putin leading up to the summit. putin has responded bay two russian cyberattacks and pretending like he didn t have anything to do with it. so far biden has failed the
russia test. lawrence: rebecca, i have got to ask you this because i m often troubled by the cyberattack in general and they have been going on for awhile. obviously escalated before this meeting in geneva. when are we going to start striking back from a cyber perspective. too we have the capabilities to strike back? yes, of course we do. it s a great question. and there is a lot that the american people aren t going to know sometimes. it s going to happen covertly about how the united states can respond. so one would hope at this point that the united states is doing something. but whatever they are doing clearly hasn t worked. clearly hasn t caused the russian government to stop this, to prevent it. we should all be very incredulous when the russian government says they don t know this is going on. these are just, you know, pirate groups, basically operating inside russia. the russian government, their intelligence operation, they are the ones supporting this at least tacitly, othe
