Berkshire Theatre Group opens season with The Importance of Being Earnest

Berkshire Theatre Group has announced Tony Award-winner Harriet Harris (Thoroughly Modern Millie) has joined the cast as Lady Bracknell in Oscar Wilde s The Importance of Being Earnest. Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winner David Auburn (Proof; BTG: The Skin of Our Teeth, The Petrified Forest) will direct BTG s production that will run from June 18 through July 10 under the Main Stage Tent outside at Berkshire Theatre Festival in Stockbridge.
In Nina Simone: Four Women, a quartet of amazing voices will fill the stage. Directed by Gerry McIntyre (Broadway: Once on This Island, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; Off-Broadway: Spamilton; BTG: Godspell, A Chorus Line, Oklahoma!) and featuring Tony and Grammy Award nominee Valisia LeKae (Broadway: Motown the Musical, The Book of Mormon, 110 in the Shade; BTG: Rock & Roll Man) as Nina Simone, this production will run from August 13 through September 5 outside in the courtyard at Berkshire Theatre Festival in Stockbridge.

PITTSFIELD â Facing a second summer of uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, Berkshire Theatre Group is planning a smaller number of shows â and keeping them outdoors.
Three theater productions and two solo concerts are scheduled at the group s campuses in Pittsfield and Stockbridge.
The summer season begins June 18, with Oscar Wildeâs 1895 satirical farce, âThe Importance of Being Earnest,â in the Fitzpatrick Main Stage tent at the Berkshire Theatre Festival campus in Stockbridge.
The comedy will be followed by two solo concerts in The Colonial Theatre big tent in Pittsfield â Tony Award winner Kelli OâHara (âThe King and Iâ), June 25-26, and Tony Award nominee Norm Lewis (âThe Gershwinsâ Porgy & Bessâ), 7 p.m. July 2-3; âThe Wizard of Oz,â July 23-Aug. 15, also in the Colonial big tent; and âNina Simone: Four Womenâ by Christina Ham, Aug. 13-Sept. 5, in the Unicorn Theatre courtyard in
