On May 14, I urge you to vote in favor of the excess levy. When our schools succeed, our communities succeed. When our schools fail, our communities are sure to follow.
The Cabell County Board of Education may have unwittingly set in motion a series of events that will force public officials and voters to decide which agencies they wish to continue funding with their property tax dollars and which may need to find other sources of revenue.
Supporters and opponents of the Cabell County Schools excess levy are in talks to come to a compromise before ballot language must be approved later this week.
Now that the state Supreme Court has ruled in its favor, the Cabell County Board of Education is prepared to discuss funding levels with the Cabell County Public Library and the Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District.
