this time again in a presidential election year. this time it was republican donald trump who that same election night trounced hillary clinton by 20 points in montana. but even as the state went that red that night in november 2016, democrat steve bullock was re-elected governor that same night. and it s not like he s just squeaking by. by some measure, steve bullock is the most popular democratic governor in the country, and he s governing as definitely a democrat. i will note for the record that now that he is governor, he now gets the privilege of announcing to the state when the minimum wage goes up every year because of that battle he led and won with such a huge margin back in 2006. this was the announcement this year about montana s minimum wage going up again because it is yoked to price increases. so it keeps pace with inflation. as a democratic governor with a very republican legislature, steve bullock has also figured out a bipartisan way to expand
