The National Safety Council reveals its Respond Ready Workplace program aimed at reducing workplace drug overdose fatalities. This initiative follows a staggering 536 percent rise in unintentional overdose deaths at workplaces from 2011 to 2021. The program seeks to integrate naloxone into workplace first aid kits, promote employee training, and collaborate with industries to bolster awareness and prevention measures.
Administering naloxone is “really simple,” National Safety Council President and CEO Lorraine M. Martin said of the medication that rapidly reverses the effects of an opioid overdose.
The National Safety Council is raising awareness of over-the-counter naloxone nasal spray for emergency treatment of opioid overdoses in the workplace.
