The centers are joint initiative of the college of st. Marys city, the site of the capital. The centers goal is to promote understanding of democratic values, traditions and institutions through the exploration of contemporary and historical issues. Yet three readings, all of which, in different ways, deal with the kind of idea of political ideology, and all of which share a set of assumptions about the way that ideas matter to politics.
