question becomes what does bannon do now? does he try and continue to ingratiate himself with trump, flatter trump, hope trump takes him back? or does he go rogue and does he start pointing out that trump, in fact, is a phony in terms of his alleged populism, and really isn t doing anything for the kind of downwardly mobile, angry, white working class voters, who are bannon s constituency who supported trump so fervently. that s going to be really interesting to watch. at some point, if bannon is p persona non grata with trump and threatened to lose his job at breitbart? what does he have for himself. he s more of a racist populism than trump it. a clip i want to play. citizens united. somebody who served on the president s transition, and he was asked about michael wolff
i won t read it for the same reason i don t read breitbart. you can t afford to get bad facts lodged in our heads. it s a work of semi-fiction. katy tur wrote her own book. she followed him on the campaign trail. she s a great person to talk to him. and she asked him about the inconsistencies but also the people who are out and out denying they ever said what michael wolff said they said. and he said simply, they are lying. they re lying. and i would respond to that. when she sahe says the 25th ame is being talked about every day at the white house? that is a lie. katy tur s book is wonderful. it checks out on every page. every assertion she makes down to the number of doughnut holes she had for dinner one day checks out. that s the book that checks out in the small things and the
president has put on the justice department that is having real effect where the department is altering its processes and not just rejecting president s claims out of hand and saying you need to butt out of the department, we don t review prosecutions based on what the president wants us to the, we determine them based on the facts and the law. they re picking overall these clinton cases because they ve been getting pressure and want to appease him and keep their jobs. obviously for the consumers of this, the viewers of fox news, the people who read breitbart, this is really satisfying because it allows them to go back to a familiar place which is that the clintons are evil and not have to focus on donald trump. i wonder to what extent this fog works and whether this can prevent people on the conservative side from this and from paying attention to it. and if it works, how long does
