washington crossing the historic park, the reopening in time for our nation s birthday. unfortunately, phil vasser s band is warming up in time for this interview. joining us is david cook, re-enactor who has played a member of the guard as a re-enactor in the past 10 years. good morning. good morning. what a great activity for families to do this weekend. since 2009, families could not do that because they shut down the park. why so? well, if you recall like in november of 2009, there were budget cuts, the pennsylvania historic museum commission had announced that legislature had cut the budget from 1.5 million down to 500,000 and like anything, you know, states feel the pinch of a tight economy. now, it is back open. it opened with the ceremony yesterday. and then on the fourth of july, you ll have another special
washington crossing historic park. guys, thanks for joining us today. thank you. good morning. let me put my finger on it, which of the two of you is the george washington re-enactor? i got it. now, so bill, you have come into a bit of bad news in the past year. the parks simply didn t have enough money according to the state because they cut off funding because they say the cupboard is bare. we don t have money to keep that particular park in business. correct. that s what we faced back in last fall. there was the possibility of the reenactment, historic re-enactment not occurring and that brought a lot of people out of the woodwork which at rallies starting back in the spring worrying about the park formulated, came to a head in december to save that crossing re-enactment which we did pull off very successfully. it went real well. indeed. and we re looking at some of the video and john, you played as we just saw george washington. thousands of people show up every year for
