somebody we don t know who he is and why he is in this country, why he is here illegally and why he allegedly committed a murder. while razo showed little emotion, pleading not guilty, the judge became choked up while addressing the victim s family members. from my heart, i feel so sorry for you. investigators say 60-year-old margaret peggy castlenek was shot inside her home. senseless. they said she had been a city employee for 27 years and most recently served at his assistant. she was a person that truly cared about the job she did and the people she served. a tragic loss that some think it could have been prevented. they stopped razo for behaving suspiciously. she admitted to being in the u.s. illegally and reported to border patrol but released.
he had committed no crimes and was not taken into custody. a spokesperson for u.s. border protection responded saying, quote, we are looking into the facts of this case. sadly, it comes too late for razo s victims. it is crazy to think of anything like that ever happening to anybody around here. let s bring in joey jackson. joey, this is such a disturbing case. there is this group called hola, a latino outreach organization in ohio. they say his father was a u.s. citizens that worked in the fields for 40 years. he filed documents for his son. razo has been standing in line for his green card for 12 years. homeland security says he also has no record. this is less about immigration they say and more about mental illness. how do you see this playing out?
why? why should a family have to lose a loved one because there is a policy or lack of a policy in place that provides for a lack of coordination between the state government and the federal government. joey, this case is similar to the illegal immigrant back in san francisco who allegedly killed a woman on july 1st. however, san francisco, with he know, is one of these sanctuary cities where officials refuse to honor federal requests to detain people in the country illegally. lake county, ohio, where razo is facing charges is not a sanctuary city. he was still allowed to go free. that s right. there are certain parallels between the case you mentioned and san francisco, the tragic murder happening on july 1st, and this case. the biggest parallel is that you have people who were here and, in fact, the government was on notice of issue and they had a responsibility to take action and did not. that case in san francisco is much more egregious to the extent that individual had been
