London-based practice Rayner Davies has completed a fourth education scheme for London Preschool Company, the 600m² West Finchley Nursery and Preschool
On a complex site in the London Borough of Barnet, the part new-build and part-conversion of a formally derelict Victorian structure will accommodate over 100 children.

It features a library, sensory room and visual arts and music studios.
The site is surrounded by protected trees requiring the building to be designed around root protection areas.

Outdoor space is provided at tree canopy level with a series of roof terrace areas, making use of its leafy surroundings, while the mass of the building steps back from this to minimise its impact on the site.
