Bundjalung woman Rhoda Roberts had some quick explaining to do when she wanted to project a Central Desert artwork in mosaics of light on five large glass camels.
“It wasn’t the camels per se,” says Roberts, curator of Parrtjima – A Festival in Light. The reference group of local leaders of the Arrernte people of the Central Desert “were more intrigued as to why the artwork wasn’t going to be shown on canvas, like paintings are normally displayed”.
