The accused students, belonging to a minority community, allegedly beat the boy up with sticks to his death, while the village pradhan, belonging to same community, allegedly instigated and helped the accused, police said.

According to police, the complainant said that the students had earlier made comments about the boy’s cousin, and that he had objected to this and brought this to the attention of a school teacher, who later scolded the students involved.
“The postmortem report of the victim (19) stated that the death occurred due to electric shock. We questioned the man and he confessed to the crime,” said Prayagraj Circle Officer Ajeet Singh Chauhan.
