It the dollars losing its status as a World Reserve currency and so the population just burns all day trying to nickel and dime each other and the government well this is what you get as well when you have these sort of wealth and income gaps and opportunity gaps is that instead of everybody just having a National Health service or the French Health care system is really good an equal everybodys treated equal here its its its either you are like bled to death or youre given like World Class Health care for nothing for eighty seven dollars a month so those are the only two options so at a certain point and it made so much sense it was so obvious to see this coming is that this couple had eighty five thousand dollars in income and that meant she had to pay that was before taxes by the way so that meant they had to pay two thousand one hundred a month if she just lowered. Two under sixty five thousand or sixty two thousand that she just gets it for free so why go through all that stress o
[applause] my name is justin desmangles. I am the chair of the before Columbus Foundation. About eight years ago i proceeded in that position, our founder, ishmael reed, we are very fortunate to have with us joining the program today. There were some very big shoes to fill. Of course, i want to thank our friends at the San Francisco jazz center who had been so generous in their support of the american book awards for the last several years. Also our friend at cspan who continue to support the Historical Mission of the before Columbus Foundation and american book awards. I will say a few things about our direction that we embarked on recently. Over the past several years we have expanded our programming to include a number of partnerships in the bay area and nationally, including those with the San Francisco Public Library who i am very honored to say, one of the representatives, stuart shaw who has been instrumental facilitating the collaboration between the before Columbus Foundation

Theyve expanded it a bit to get her in. A dog. That dog was dropped into that passageway between the apartment complex and the shop three years ago, when it was a puppy. And now someone is finally going in to get her out. Youre joking . Been in there for three years . Three years. Here is the video of them finally pulling her out. Pl giving the dog food and water to sustain it for three years. They would feed her every day, but they said whenever they would try to reach in and grab her, she got scared and would back up and run away. I cant imagine three years of dog waste down there, and this poor animal has basically been living in a cave for three years. Its eyes must be sensitive to light. This is beyond talk about the courage to go in there. You dont know how the dog is going to respond. Its a tight space. Claustrophobic. This is all just out of control. Now, this is the welder that helped get her out. You can see the dog, and im just happy that somebody thought enough to get some
