Deeping developer told new village hall needed if it wants 120 new homes

News Developer Ray Turner Partnership’s plans appeared before South Holland District Council’s planning committee on Thursday. Councillors agreed the hall should be built and given to the parish council before half of the homes are completed. The site, which will be accessed from Littleworth Drove, has had several previous applications for homes built on it, which saw the number of houses reduce from 135 in a February 2017 application. A 120 homes plan was approved in outline in 2018 but never completed a Section 106 agreement over the village hall aspect. Amendments since then had sought to change the plans, including having no village hall on-site. A separate site was applied for elsewhere in Deeping St Nicholas in December 2018.

No significant increase in school COVID cases since return from Easter break

| Photo: Adobe Stock / Monkey Business Lincolnshire health bosses said there has been no “significant increase” in school COVID cases since pupils returned to the classroom from their Easter break. This comes as in the seven days up to April 30, 10 local schools reported 15 positive test results. Between April 19 and 25, over 56,000 lateral flow tests were carried out in schools, testing both students and staff, of which 31 were positive – a positivity rate of under 0.1%. Health bosses said outbreaks at schools remain small, with the largest being one at a Lincolnshire academy, but this was an outbreak of under 10 individuals only. Professor Derek Ward, Lincolnshire County Council’s Director of Public Health, said: “We’re not seeing any significant increase at this stage in cases in schools […] they’ve been open for a couple weeks now.”
