UConn impressive in return to Big East Tourney beats DePaul

NEW YORK (AP) The way UConn is playing, they might be the favorite to win the Big East Conference Tournament, especially with top-seeded Villanova making an unexpected exit earlier in the day.
Tyrese Martin had 14 points and 10 rebounds and third-seeded UConn made an impressive return in its first Big East showcase in eight years with a 94-60 quarterfinal victory over DePaul on Thursday night.
R.J. Cole and Adama Sanogo also added 14 points apiece to lead the Huskies to their fifth straight win and seventh in eight games.

NEW YORK (AP) Tyrese Martin had 14 points and 10 rebounds and third-seeded UConn made an impressive return in its first Big East Tournament game in eight years with a 94-60 quarterfinal victory over DePaul on Thursday night.
R.J. Cole and Adama Sanogo also added 14 points apiece to lead the Huskies to their fifth straight win and seventh in eight games. James Bouknight added 10 points before sitting out most of the second half with apparent leg cramps.
Javon Freeman-Liberty led 11th-seeded DePaul (5-14) with 19 points. Ray Salnave added 10 and Charlie Moore had eight.

UConn blew out DePaul 94-60 to advance to the Big East Tournament semifinal.
Things really felt like normal again for the Huskies, who remain dominant at Madison Square Garden in the postseason. UConn improved to 10-1 over their last 11 postseason games at The World’s Most Famous Arena. That includes their 2011 Big East Tourney run, as well as their two wins in the 2014 NCAA Tournament’s East Regional Semifinal and Final.
UConn trailed only temporarily in this one. The Huskies didn’t seize the lead until the 17:16 mark. DePaul would tie the game a minute later, but that would be the last time they’d be in that spot all game. The Huskies floored it the rest of the way, and never relented on their grip of the game.
