TRIBUTES have been paid to one of the most familiar and trusted personalities in the North-East after it was announced that she is to step down from her role as a television presenter. Pam Royle is leaving as the award-winning main news presenter for ITV News Tyne Tees and Border this Spring after a television career spanning nearly 40 years. The announcement was made to her colleagues yesterday and Pam described it as “one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make”. She added: “I’ve had a wonderful time working for ITV Tyne Tees and ITV Border but, at this stage of my life, I want to explore other opportunities as a freelance and find a better work-life balance.”
