The sailors sometimes this morning. Also breaking overnight, a motorist is hospitalized after colliding with a pinellas deputys car. It was happened as the deputy was pulling out of a Dunkin Donuts parking lot. The motorist tried to stop and ended up sliding into the side of the deputys unmarked car. The deputy was not hurt. The motorist was rushed to the hospital with lifethreatening injuries. We are checking this morning on his condition. In our other top stories this morning, hoverboard headaches. Today the university of south florida will meet to discuss a possible ban on the popular devices. This comes as news of more hoverboards are catching fire. In the meantime, the university is now handing out fliers with safety tip on charging hoverboards and other electronics. Each year, students from across the Ketchikan School District test their skills in a bookish battle.
The Battle of the Books program is presented through the Alaska Association of School Librarians. Each spring, AASLA releases a list of books tailored for student participants in kindergarten through 12th grade, and the students have the majority of the year to read all the books on the list.
Then, in the fall, at the beginning of the next school year, students form teams and engage in âbattlesâ (of) involving trivia about the books with other students from competing teams in their same grade bracket.
