this investigation early this monday morning, march 7, 2011. and hello, everyone. welcome to the early show. good morning. i m chris wragge. i m erica hill. we begin with the ongoing pain at the pump the unrest in the middle east has sent gas prices soaring. a gallon of gasoline averaging $3.51, 78 cents higher than a year ago. rebecca jarvis joins us from a gas station here. reporter: good morning. this is a theme we are seeing play out across the country. prices near $4. in some places they are paying $4, back where prices were in 2008 and now the government is considering getting involved. unrest in the middle east has gasoline prices here soaring. in just two weeks prices at the pump have jumped 33 cents, that is the second biggest increase in that amount of time ever. $65 for gas. it is pretty unbelievable. reporter: u.s. drivers are paying an average of $3.51 a gallon. with libya s oil fields shut and production stopped. some analysts see $4 a gallon right a
