The European Union is formally launching legal action against the UK for unilaterally extending the post-Brexit grace periods on trade in Northern Ireland in an alleged violation of international law. Ray Bather (Letters, March 11) makes his most telling contribution to the Brexit debate with: “ Courage to change the things I can.” Brexit is the greatest unforced error made by this country in living memory – completely eclipsing Versailles, the Munich agreement, Suez, the toppling of Mohammad Mosaddegh, Iraq and, most recently, the abhorrent cosying up of the Tories and Trump. For practical purposes everyone in the UK and many outside have been and will continue to be damaged by it.
