For many, International Women’s Day can feel like a bit of a whirlwind due to the many celebrations that take place in and around the global day of recognition of women in early March. That’s why it was nice to have one last hurrah during the waning days of March at an International Women's Month reception hosted by Liberal Ottawa-Vanier MPP Lucille Collard.

City of Ottawa parks staff removed signage in Brewer Park mistakenly advising a 9 p.m. closure time after it drew complaints from the area’s councillor.
The signs were removed on April 27 only hours after they were apparently put up after Capital Coun. Shawn Menard asked how this had happened as he had requested no early closures for parks in his ward.

In a statement to this paper, parks and recreation general manager Dan Chenier called the installation an “error” and said staff had since “checked other parks in the area to ensure they include appropriate signage.”
