Govt to Invest Rs. 100 Million to Save Historic Tree from Rawalpindi Ring Road Project Following a movement against cutting down a 100-year-old banyan tree, the government has decided not to cut it down to accommodate the construction of the Rawalpindi Ring Road. Consequently, the government has approved an additional Rs. 100 million to be allocated to the project to change the design of the road and save the tree. Earlier, the residents of Rawat had pleaded with the government to prevent chopping down the historic tree that has come in the way of the Rawalpindi Ring Road Project.
