Over the last week, a team of reporters at The Indian Express identified the publicly advertised numbers of various government offices in the city and dialed them to check whether they were functional or not. In many cases –the telephone numbers at the public-facing departments such as India Post, State Education Department, Health Department, and State Transport – were nonfunctional, and not much effort has been taken to address this issue.
