LAHORE: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) teams sealed three slaughterhouses, a food factory, a food caterer and a Paan shop over non-compliance. The operation was carried out on Saturday night, officials said adding the PFA teams raided Noor Dera Slaughterhouse for storing and selling unhygienic meat. Likewise, in the Ghoray Shah area, the teams sealed other two slaughterhouses for non-compliance of food safety rules. The meat was taken into custody and discarded according to rules & regulations. Moreover, the teams sealed Waheed Desi Food Factory for using unhygienic chemicals and food colour for the preparation of various products. The premises and food production area were also swarming with insects, told PFA DG Rafaqat Ali Niswana. The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed three slaughterhouses and several food businesses across the province on Sunday.
PFA officials carried out operation against food adulterators and sealed Noor Dera slaughterhouse for storing and selling unwholesome meat.
Similarly, PFA food safety teams sealed two more slaughterhouses in Ghoray Shah over non-compliance of food regulations.
The food safety teams also sealed Waheed Desi Food Factory for using unhygienic chemicals and non-food grade colours in preparation of various products. The premises and food production area were also swarming with insects.

The sealed units included ketchup and sauce factory and honey production unit.
The PFA food safety teams discarded 430 prohibited ‘gutka’ sachets, 400 kgs of substandard chilli garlic sauce, 280 kgs of fake honey and 50 kgs of glucose, said a PFA statement.
PFA Director General Rafaqat Ali Naswana said that ketchup and sauce factory was sealed for using prohibited starch in preparation of sauce at Ferozewala. “False labelling, using plastic crockery and fungus infested mixer machinery are the reasons of it being sealed. Poor arrangement of cleanliness and stinky water is witnessed during the raid.”
On the other hand in Faiz Bagh, honey production unit was sealed over preparing fake honey with addition of sugar, glucose and non-food graded colours.
