Education Ministry revives Vedic education proposal

A meeting has been scheduled where representatives of MSRVP and officials of Department of School Education, the National Council of Education Research and Training and CBSE, among others, will try to find a way to ‘mainstream Vedic education’ in school curriculum.
NEW DELHI: The Centre is exploring plans to set up a Vedic Board for schools, apart from CBSE. It may also look into options to mainstream Vedic education in the school curriculum. The move comes months after proposing to offer technical education in regional languages.
The education ministry has already permitted Baba Ramdev run Patanjali group to establish a Bhartiya Shiksha Board (BSB) on ‘Indian knowledge systems’. The new plan, however, is to set up a Vedic board, a proposal which is believed to have the support of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh. Rounds of discussions have been held and files moved in the last few months to look
