Minister for Education Rosy Akbar has warned teachers and school heads to thoroughly check and verify learning material prepared and distributed to students studying from home during this pandemic.
The warning comes after parents and social media users pointed out that a Social Studies reading material circulated to Year 4 students in a Western school carried factual errors regarding two of Fiji’s statesmen.
Concerned mother Asilika Bulatale said the errors were unacceptable and made her worry about the calibre of teachers.
She said teachers needed to screen students’ learning material instead of cutting and pasting material from the internet.
