SEVIERVILLE
The Salvation Army is known for its social service outreach and the Sevierville Corps now has new leadership to build upon what it already has done.
Lt. Melissa Melching is the newly appointed commanding officer as of June 14.
âI just want to be able to give my best âyesâ and be intentional, showing up and creating a place that feels like home and people feel included, loved and safe,â Melching said.
Sheâs anxious to build upon the services that the Sevierville Salvation Army already provides, which centers around rental assistance, utility assistance and food assistance. In addition, the Salvation Army, which locally also serves Cocke County, provides Christmas assistance in the form of the Angel Tree Program and the well known Kettle Campaign, which collects donations for the services the nonprofit provides.
